Solar in Maryland

Maryland stacks more incentives than almost any state we serve: a direct state grant, a sales tax exemption, a property tax exemption, an active SREC market, and full-retail net metering. Layered on top of the federal credit, they take a serious bite out of what a system actually costs.

What a system actually costs in Maryland

Sticker price is not the price you pay. Here is the same reference system, with every Maryland incentive applied in the order you would actually receive them.

Sticker price$24,000

30% of your total system cost, credited against your federal income tax. Applies to panels, batteries, and labor.

  • Maryland Residential Clean Energy Rebate$1,000

And then it earns

These benefits accrue over the life of the system rather than coming off the purchase price.

  • MD SREC income~$1,900 / 10 yrs

Maryland's Renewable Portfolio Standard creates an in-state SREC market, so your production earns certificates you can sell for ongoing income.

  • Property tax exemption100% exempt

The value solar adds to your home is fully exempt from Maryland property tax assessment.

$0 down financing available

Most Maryland homeowners finance with nothing upfront and a monthly payment below what they were already sending their utility.

Why solar works in Maryland

The deepest incentive stack we work with

A state grant, two tax exemptions, SREC income, and full-retail net metering layer on top of the 30% federal credit. Few states put this many programs in a homeowner's favor at once.

High rates make every kilowatt-hour count

BGE and Pepco customers pay well above the national average per kilowatt-hour. The more your utility charges, the more each unit of self-generated power is worth to you.

Grants are first-come, first-served

The Residential Clean Energy Rebate is funded annually and closes when the money runs out. We file the paperwork on your behalf as part of the install, but timing genuinely matters here.

Between the federal credit, the state grant, and the sales tax exemption, the net cost came in thousands below what I'd budgeted. Elite handled every application — I signed two forms and that was the extent of my involvement.

Maryland questions, answered

You don't have to chase it. The Residential Clean Energy Rebate is administered by the Maryland Energy Administration, and we prepare and submit the application as part of your installation paperwork. The grant is paid directly to you after your system is commissioned. Funding is allocated each fiscal year and closes when exhausted, so we file as early in the process as the rules allow.

Find out what your Maryland roof is worth

A MD energy consultant will model your actual usage, roof, and utility tariff, then send you a report with real numbers. No cost, no obligation.
